A new bus lane enforcement camera has been switched on this week at The Shore
The camera is a response to months and months of complaints from locals that drivers were not respecting the traffic restrictions on the street – where everything apart from buses, cycles and emergency vehicles are prohibited from travelling northwards.
The camera will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per year. Drivers risk a £60 fine if they drive in the bus lane during restricted times.
But fines won’t be issued straight away.
According to a council statement: “The Council’s protocol states that after a bus lane enforcement camera site becomes operational there should be two weeks of issuing warning notices and a further week to allow for their delivery prior to Charge Notices being issued.”
Signs have also been put up to warn drivers about the camera.
