Locals and visitors alike often marvel at the weird and wonderful diversity of Leith Walks independent traders.
Borlands, the darts, TV and key cutting shop is the most famous example, notably winning a mention on Radio 4 recently.
But there are other shops on Leith Walk selling combinations of things that may seem somewhat out of the ordinary to those more accustomed to shopping amongst the big box chain stores.
The shop is the latest to benefit from the Leith Lates/I Love Leith shop shutter art initiative, and although this rubbish camera phone photo doesn’t really do the work by David Lemm justice, hopefully it’ll give you an impression of it.
Paradigm Shift owner Marc Surtress said: “It’s a natural step for us to be involved in an arts initiative given that telescopes show celestial objects of breathtaking beauty and microscopes that help us to see the incredible complexity of rocks, minerals and crystals from under the ground.”
Dave Lemm added: “Cosmology already features in my work so it’s great that I was able to work with Paradigm Shift on this project. I wanted to use the crystal structures from the shop to create a pattern that resembles a star chart and the structure of the shutter creating a grid that helps to create order from apparent chaos.”
