Last spring, along with loads of other local volunteers, we planted more than 100 trees in Leith Links – and much to our surprise the slugs got to eat the handful of apples that were produced a few months later.
However, when you plant that many trees, usually some of them fail, and the Leith Links orchard has been no exception. Greener Leith has received funding to replace the few trees that haven’t survived the winter on the Links and the local BTCV volunteer team have agreed to help coordinate the (re)planting day.
Therefore, we’re delighted to invite Leithers to join in with the BTCV volunteers to help get the orchard ready for Spring. The spring volunteer day will take place on the 5th of April at 10.30am on Tuesday the 5th of April.
If you plan on turning up, please wear stout footwear, and clothes appropriate for the weather. As usual, under 18s will need to bring a parent or guardian too.
Whilst you can turn up on the day, it would be most helpful if you could indicate whether you plan to attend the event by signing-up for the event on the Greener Leith Social.
