Thanks to a bit of cooncil funding, local artist Jamie Johnson is the first of what could be a series of local artisits invited to transform humble shop shutters in Leith into bespoke works of art.
The art work Jamie has completed will be officially unveiled as part of this weeks Leith Late event although it was completed a wee bit earlier. So here’s an early photo of it – on the Gamesmaters Exchange shop.
We’re particularly supportive of this project as it chimes nicely with the “Do more to support Local artisits” idea that has emerged this month as one of the top 20 “Vision for Leith Walk” ideas that have emerged over the course of this month.
Congrats to all involved – and we’re keen to emphasise that the organisers are looking for more local businesses who are willing to offer up their shutters as an art space.
Morvern Cunningham from LeithLate said: “We are proud to be collaborating with the City of Edinburgh Council on an initiative that brings high-quality artwork by talented artists onto the streets of the creative hub that is Leith.“
