Oakhill Apartments, who provide serviced apartments at Thorntreeside, have gone to the top of our this-weeks-favourite-local-firm-list after deciding to organise a staff clean-up event.
Before picking up the litter pickers the firm got in touch to ask us where the best place for them to organise a staff clean-up event might be. We suggested the newly improved Lochend railway path that runs between Leith Academy and their flats.
This week they sent us through some photos that show their staff clearing up litter. In total, five members of staff put in two hours each.
Mark Docherty, Sales and Revenue Manager at the firm said: “Oakhill apartments have recently introduced a Corporate Social Responsibility campaign as we are starting to learn more about our impact on the environment and how we can introduce ways we can become sustainable within the hospitality industry.
“This Clean up event was the first in many activities being conducted by staff of Oakhill we are looking to give something back to the local community whilst taking into consideration the future generations.
“Staff from all departments volunteered their time, We had Greg Duncan from the Front office department, Marlena Rogala our Housekeeping Manager, Lauren McHoull a member of housekeeping and Myself from Sales.”
Oakhill Apartments and their staff are to be congratulated for taking action to look after the wider neighbourhood they operate in. We would of course hope that more local employers will be inspired to follow their lead.
