Local architects firm, Smith Scott Mullen Associates have announced dates for two consultation evenings so that local people can give their views on early plans for a housing development on the former Eastern General Hospital site, off Seafield Road.
Anyone proposing to build a development of any scale must undertake early consultation with local residents, before submitting a full planning application. They must include a report on the feedback they get – a so called “pre-application report” – with the planning application when they submit it to the council planning department for consideration. And in theory at least, show how they’ve responded to the feedback they received.
The public also get a chance to comment on the detailed plans too – as part of the formal planning process – but these pre-application meetings are a good chance for people to flag up any ideas they might have for the site at early stage in the process.
